I’m living in lovely Sacramento, CA where I sell wine, drink wine and feast with my friends and family; I also write about wine for Midtown Monthly magazine.
I intend to use this blog as a forum in which to discuss real wines, full of character and interest. I reject the high alcohol, low acid, clean and fruity, “international” wines made from the same 5 grape varieties. Give me Pineau d’Aunis! Trousseau! Romorantin! Prié Blanc! Grapes from climates that produce lower alcohol wines with lots of acidity, and interesting savory and mineral qualities in addition to fruit. Wines that smell great and encourage you to finish the bottle with dinner. I’ll also talk about food, history, travel, and general activities pertaining to these sorts of delightful wines.

Hello, Michele.
Really digging what you’re doing here. I’d already linked you up from a piece on R. Lopez de Heredia. I’ve now added S&Q to my blogroll as well.
cheers,

Hi Michelle!
Came across this blog thanks to Tim (plus saw you in the Bee back in August). I’m enjoying gaining some insights about the various wines out there and hope to become better informed. I’ve gotten into wine the last couple years, but have a lot to learn. Also enjoy the Midtown Monthly columns. Looking forward to reading more…

Hey Michelle!
I’d like to invite you to come on over to HOT ITALIAN and try some of our Italian and local Italian varietals with Nicki and Fabrizio. They’re all under $50 by the bottle and between $5-$10 by the glass.
Grazie, ciao!

Hey Michele, this is Denise, your former downstairs neighbor. I know you’re on a hiatus with the new baby and all, but I was wondering if you could help me out with something. I’m living up here in Humboldt County now and recently started rooting two grape cuttings, but for the life of me I don’t know what they are. I’m trying to figure out a) what variety they are and b) if either of them would grow well in Sacramento. Google is failing me at the moment… could you send me an email so that I can send you back a couple pictures? Or maybe point me in the direction of a good source to identify them myself?
Thanks! And congrats on starting the family!
